  1. What is Inspired Giving?

    During the holidays and for special occasions, giving is something we focus on in a special way. We want to give something meaningful to those we love and we often want to help those who need our support.

    St. Michael’s Foundation has come up with a new way for you to do both – make a gift that shows you care and help others at the same time. These gifts range in size and value but all are needed to maintain the innovative and compassionate care for which we are known.

  2. How can I purchase Inspired Gifts for the people I care about?

    We’ve tried to make it as easy as possible for you to complete your holiday shopping from the comfort of your own home.

    Credit Card
    We accept Visa, Mastercard and AMEX.

    Cheque
    If you’d prefer to pay by cheque, print out the order form here and mail or fax it in.

    Cash
    If you’d prefer to pay by cash, please visit us in person!

  3. I keep trying to purchase a piece of equipment, but when I add it to my cart, I get a message to call the Foundation. Why?

    The credit card companies and our online payment gateway have set a limit of $10,000 on purchases to protect you from credit card fraud. If the piece of equipment you are trying to purchase is more than $10,000 we would be delighted to take your order over the phone or in person.

  4. I can’t afford to purchase a whole piece of equipment, but would still like to buy a gift. What would you suggest?

    We realize that medical equipment is very expensive, which is why we have offered people the opportunity to purchase a “share” of the equipment. You will see that each piece of equipment over $500 has a “gift toward purchase” price. All gifts toward the purchase of equipment are eligible for our special holiday gift card.

  5. I would like to purchase a piece of equipment that is not in the catalogue. Can I do that?

    If you would like to support an area of the Hospital that wasn't listed in this year’s catalogue, please call us at 416-864-5000 and we’ll be happy to talk with you about your donation.

  6. Does my money really go toward the purchase of equipment?

    Gifts made through this catalogue represent a gift to St. Michael’s Foundation. The Hospital’s urgent priorities are always changing. To support the best patient care, the Foundation does not specifically designate donations for gifts under $10,000.

    We use your gifts where they can do the most good by pooling them with the gifts of others to meet the Hospital’s most urgent priorities.

  7. How do I tell people I’ve given an Inspired Gift in their name?

    We do the work for you! We’ve created a special gift card that will be personalized with the recipient’s name, your name, plus the item you’ve purchased in their honour.

  8. What choices do I have for getting Gift Cards to the people I want them for?

    You have three choices, all of which are available during the checkout process:
    1. You can send an e-card instantly.
    2. You can have our gift card sent to your address so that you can add your own personal note.
    3. You can have our gift card sent directly to the mailing address of your choice.
  9. What happens if my card does not arrive?

    We aim to have all gift cards out within 3 business days of your order being placed, but you should allow longer due to high volumes of mail during the holiday season. If it has been longer than 7 business days, please call us at 416-864-5000 and we will send you a replacement card right away.

  10. I would like a “hard copy” of the Gift Catalogue!

    No problem! Please call us at 416-864-5000 or email us at foundation@smh.toronto.on.ca to order your copy today.

  11. Can I have the tax receipt issued in the name of the person I am sending the gift to?

    All gifts purchased from this catalogue will receive an income tax receipt. In accordance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), we can only issue the receipt in the name of the individual or organization making the donation or gift.
